SOFT is a registered charity and is the support organisation for trisomy 13 (Patau's syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards' syndrome), and related disorders such as translocations and mosaicism. SOFT has strong links with the medical profession, including several professional medical advisers.
SOFT provides help and information for families after a diagnosis of one of these conditions. Families are put in touch with befrienders who are willing to listen and share their experiences. Each year a 'Family Day' is organised when members can meet together and talk to other families and medical professionals.
SOFT publishes a range of free literature including Your Baby - 4th edition; Your Unborn Baby - 2nd edition, Care of infant/child - USA publication 2000, Link Lists and newsletters.
