The Primary Immunodeficiency Association (PIA) is a national charity that supports people affected by primary immunodeficiencies (mostly genetic disorders of the immune system) and their families. The Association's main aims are the following.

  • To support people with primary immune disorders and their families.
  • To help people with these conditions to achieve the best clinical care by immunology consultants at a local level.
  • To promote awareness of PIA within the medical profession in order to improve the rates of diagnosis and eliminate the consequent damage to health.
  • To make representations on behalf of people with PIA to government, health departments and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • To raise funds for research into improved diagnosis, treatment and an eventual cure.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
