The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) is one of the UK's leading baby charities working to prevent sudden infant deaths and promote baby health. FSID:
- Funds research into the causes of sudden infant death.
- Supports families who have been devastated by cot death.
- Promotes lifesaving baby safety advice to parents, carers and professionals.
FSID helped launch the 'Reduce the Risk' campaign which has reduced the UK cot death rate by 75% since its launch in 1991 and has been hailed as one of the most successful health promotion campaigns ever.
FSID offers:
- A helpline (number above) for parents, carers and health professionals.
- A wide range of publications and resources.
- A network of befrienders to support bereaved families.
- A phonecard for bereaved families to call the helpline free of charge.
- The 'care of the next infant' (CONI) scheme, in partnership with the NHS, to support bereaved families with subsequent babies.
