Alcohol Concern is a national organisation with the following aims:

  • To raise awareness of the problems alcohol can cause.
  • To improve services for problem drinkers.
  • To promote preventative action.

Alcohol Concern is the national agency on alcohol misuse. They work to reduce the incidence and costs of alcohol-related harm and to increase the range and quality of services available to people with alcohol-related problems.

They provide training and information and encourage debate on the wide range of public policy issues affected by alcohol; including public health, housing, children and families, crime and licensing. They support specialist and non-specialist service providers helping to tackle alcohol problems at a local level, whilst also working to influence national alcohol policy. They also have a membership scheme for individuals or organisations.

They have an information enquiry service run by email. All information queries should be submitted by email to info@alcoholconcern.org.uk. Please give a brief outline of the information query, your telephone number and full address. A member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

They have an online bookshop. Orders for Alcohol Concern publications or journal articles can be placed online via their website.

People who are concerned about their own or somebody else's drinking should contact drinkline on 0800 917 8282. Drinkline can put callers in touch with an appropriate service. This is not part of Alcohol Concern.
