UK sources of information and / or support
Many of the patient self help and support groups provide resources, funds, information and opportunities for medical research. Many universities also conduct medical research. The following are some other major organisations that are involved in medical research. UK government group which aims to improve health by promoting research into allareas of medical and related science.
Action Medical Research
Have the broadest research programme of any medical charity that relies on voluntary support. They select the best research projects in areas where we are most likely to find cures and treatments. Their work is driven by medical need, and is independent of political or commercial influence.
Association of Medical Research Charities
A membership organisation of the leading UK charities that fund medical and health research.
Wellcome Trust (UK)
The world's largest medical research charity funding research into human andanimal health.
Gray Institute for Radiation, Oncology and Biology
Helping beat cancer through research.
Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK supports over 500 research group leaders throughout the UK.
Institute of Cancer Research
Exists to investigate the causes of cancer and develop new strategies for itsprevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
Patient Connection
Information on the provision of patient based market research. It givespeople with different conditions can participate in survey research andinfluence the healthcare services and products they use.
