The Rowan Organisation is a support service based in a number of counties throughout England and Wales for people who receive Direct Payments or a Personal/Individual Budget from Social Services. They are a user controlled organisation that seeks to empower people to live independently through choice and control.
They provide practical support and information to disabled people, older people, people with a learning difficulty, people with mental ill-health and carers so that they can make informed choices about decisions that affect their lives and their futures.
Their teams of local Independent Living Advisers provide direct, practical support to services users. For those people who wish to employ carers or personal assistants using their Direct Payments or Personal Budget money, the Rowan Organisation can provide full support with recruitment, payroll and CRB checking. It also has an Information Service which is available to members of the public, existing service users, local authorities, primary care trusts and other local community groups. Depending on which county you live, there may be a charge for their services.
