Before using beclometasone nasal spray
Before using beclometasone nasal spray make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows:
- If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding.
- If you have had surgery on your nose.
- If you have recently had an infection in your nose.
- If you have tuberculosis (TB) which affects your lungs.
- If you are taking other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal or complementary medicines.
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine.
How to use beclometasone nasal spray
Before beginning treatment, read the manufacturer's printed information leaflet. Unless you have been told otherwise, use two sprays into each nostril twice daily. Once your symptoms are under control, you may be advised to you reduce the dose to one spray into each nostril twice daily.
- Shake the bottle and remove the cap.
- Blow your nose gently to clear it.
- Close one nostril by placing a finger gently against one side of your nose. Tilt your head forward slightly and insert the nozzle of the spray into the other nostril, taking care to keep the bottle upright.
- Breathe in through your nose and push down firmly on the collar of the container to administer one spray, then breathe out through your mouth. Repeat this process again in the same nostril for a second dose.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 above in the other nostril.
- Wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap.
Getting the most from your treatment
- Do not use this nasal spray more often than your doctor or pharmacist recommends. This can increase the risk of side-effects.
- If you are using beclometasone nasal spray to relieve the symptoms of hayfever, your doctor or pharmacist may recommend that you start using the spray two to three weeks before the hay fever season begins.
- Beclometasone nasal spray is for you. Never give it to others even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.
Can beclometasone nasal spray cause problems?
Along with their useful effects all medicines can cause unwanted side-effects. These usually improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side-effects continue or become troublesome.

If you experience any other symptoms which you think may be due to this medicine, speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
How to store beclometasone nasal spray
- Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
