Week 5

  1. WE are now on week 5 of my husbands legionella nightmare!!!

He is improving slowly day by day ,came out of intensive care

last week and is now in the tropical diseases ward at our local

hospital.I am finding it very upsetting to see him struggle to do

even the most basic of things as his muscle tone has deteriorated

so badly though the physio is confident in time it will improve.

How do you start to explain to someone what has gone on in the weeks he was in the induced coma, indeed how do you deal with his pain and anguish. What really angers me is the lack of help for the rest of the family who are left to deal with our fears of what the future holds for our loved one.

  2. Hi Dougal,

Thanks for keeping us updated. I am pleased that he is improving, albeit very slowly. It is extremely difficult to try and fill in the missing gap in his life. I agree with you about how little help there is for the families. For certain illnesses there is a great deal of support for the family but for other conditions very little or nothing.

I hope he continues to improve and I can imagine how hard this must be for you.

  3. HI I HAVE RECENTLY JOINED THE SIGHT MY 19 YEAR OLD SON IS IN INTENSIVE CARE AFTER A TWO WEEK INDUCED COMA, HE WOKE UP THREE DAYS AGO. I TOO AM TOTALY SHOCKED AT THE STATE MY BOY IS IN AND WORRY FOR HIS FUTURE THEIR SEEMS SO LITTLE INFORMATION OR REASURANCE FOR RELATIVES. I AM SO TIRED SPENDING 9HOURS A DAY AT THE HOSPITAL BUT CAN'T BARE NOT TO BE THEIR. RELATIVES AND FRIENDS SEEM TO EXPECT ME TO BE JUMPING FOR JOY NOW HE IS AWAKE AND OUT OF IMEDIATE DANGER...I HAVE SO MANY CONCERNS AND WAS TOTALY UNPREPARED FOR HIS DISTRESS. DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF ANYWARE THAT PROVIDES INFORMATION ON THE PROGRESS AND RECOVERY OF SUFFERES WITH LEGONELLA?
