  2. hi my husbund has been taking simvastatin for a few years now,he is 51,he has been going back and forth the doctors with joint and muscle pain, drs put it down to his job plumber,he was living on pain killers, every time he went to the drs they would change his pain tablets, about six to eight months ago he started getting bad pain in his lower back and muscle in left leg,he went back to the doctors again moer pain killers, three months ago the pain was so bad his leg was giving out,he said it feels like he is being stabbed with a knife,my sister is also taking simvastatin and she was also having pain in her lower back and top of legs, she ran out of her prescription for statin, and diddnt have the time to get it,she left it off for a week,in that time her pain went from her legs and back, she told me about it,and said it could be the tablets coursing my husbunds pain,he foned the doctors and asked if he could have a blood test to see if the statins were to blame,he had the test andit showed somthing was elevated in his blood from the statins ,he was told to stop them, and see if the pain went away, the pain did subside after a few weeks but diddnt go away,he came home from work three days ago and the pain came back,it was so bad he fell to the floor,i took him to AnE ,they said it was his muscle and to go home and rest it,the pain was so bad ,we went back to the doctors the next day,she gave him more pain killers, sent him for xray and did more blood tests, the pain killers are not touching him he has to lay on his back without mooving,i think people should be aware what these statins can do,and doctors also to be aware,we just have to wait for the blood results and pray that theybare ok

I hope the doctors are able to help you. In the meantime if you wish to find out more about statin side effects then research Dr Duane Graveline. Dr Graveline is a former NASA astronaut, aerospace medical research scientist, flight surgeon and family doctor. For the last decade he has devoted his life to cataloguing the use and mis-use of statins. I read his first book 'Lipitor: Thief of Memory' and I believe his latest book 'Statin Damage Crisis' is now available. My doctor and hospital consultant are once again pushing me to take a statin (they tried unsuccessfully 5 year ago) but I'm very wary of doing so.
