Relief from restless legs - Help!

  1. I have suffered from restless legs for the last 4 or 5 years and am still unaware what caused the onset. I have been prescribed various medication to no avail and no longer have any caffeine or alcohol. I also exercise regularly.

My restless legs have recentlly become unbearable, especially in the morning when I am constantly itching my legs and cannot sit still or concentrate on anything. I have also recently noticed my arms starting to itch also.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do as I am having a really bad time at the moment and my GP cannot come up with any solutions. My main fear is that I cant cope with this for the rest of my life and do nt know what to do. sad sad

  2. Hi ColinH

I have also suffered (on and off) with RLS for many years, and likeyou, mine is now affecting my hands and arms!?!?! (even GP couldn't answer that one). Mine usually comes on between 6/7 in the evening (when I am settling down to watch TV - goodness knows why) and what I find helps, and I know this sounds stupid, but I take 2 x dihydrocodeine and that gets rid of it in about 30 mins or so. Mind you now I am starting to wake up in the night with it, so not so good eh? Also dihydrocodeine is addictive but I've been prescribed them for years, so I am not worried. Good luck - I know what you are going through.
