pre-eclampsia

  1. this is my 1st pregnancy and i developed pre-eclampsia a week before my baby was due i went for a check up at the midwifes and i had a plus 2 protein in urine and high blood pressure my midwife referred me straight to the hospital. Bering in mind my blood pressure was up and down during my pregnancy. i gets to the hospital and they said i was going to have to stay in so i could do a 24hour urine test and observe my blood pressure and blood tests. the following day i was feeling really lousy had a really thick headache and going dizzy the consultant came to see me and explained to me about my condition (pre-clampsia)so put me on labetalol to bring my blood pressure down but doesn't seem to be working. 3 days on my condition got worse and worse and the doctor said we are going to induce you as giving birth is the only cure. So i was induced at 5.30pm and then taken up to labour ward at 10pm to get waters broken. another urine test was done this time had plus 4 in urine and my face, feet and legs ballooned. blood tests was done results not good, Then was rushed into intensive care to get a magnesium sulphate drip in to prevent eclampsia. by 11pm my labour started and at 12.26am my little healthy son was born so there was no time for pain relief just gas and air. got 2nd degree turs had to be stitched (painful), lost 700mls of blood. i had a cavitor fitted to monitor the fluid going in measured up to what was coming out and to keep an eye on protein. blood pressure taken every 15 mins. was in intensive care for 36hours with someone sat with me the hole time. couldn't move due to magnesium sulphate made me all stiff. was discharged from hospital 3 days later and 3 weeks on still on labetalol for blood pressure on iron to as I'm anaemic due to blood loss. midwife visits me at home everyday to do blood pressure as its still up and down. put me off for live i think but who knows. thanks for listening lol
