Hi I have just been diagnosed with posterior blepharitis, My right eye is the worst with 3 very red prominent veins starting from the inner corner of the eye towards the pupil. I have been told to use a warm flannel and cotton buds along the rim. I really hope the veins go back to normal as they are really depressing, I used to love wearing eye make-up, now I do not want to draw attention to my eyes. My eyelashes are also falling out. I have also been told to use preservative free eye drops, Can anyone recommend any? And has anyone had a similar experience with red veins and blepharitis and did they evenually go back to normal?

hi
i dont know about the eye drops however ive just been told i have it, and ive found that boots expert sensitive gentle eye make up removal lotion, reallly helps if ur eyes are sore, its like a oilly type substance and it really helps to soften the eyes and its very cheap its boots own brand of product its about £2, however dont use their sensitive make up wipe they hurt. also dont go looking at creams online i make that mistake, it make my eyes even worse now im £30 down
for the hot flannel, its good if u have a britta fiter, or just boil water because the soft water helps your eyes especially if u live in a hard water area. just put the plug in the sink fill up with boiled water, add cold water from the britta so the water is hot enough but is comfortable for you, keep submerging the flannel as it cools very quickly
i hope this helps

Hi
I had this a couple of years ago and it is really frustrating. As well as losing my lashes I also had some lumps appear on my lash line so was referred to the Hospital Eye Unit and diagnosed with blepharitis. The doctor just squeezed them and some 'puss' came out (sorry that's the only way to describe it). The lumps eventually disappeared but the best advice I was given for my eyelashes falling out, was to put a small amount of Johnsons Baby Shampoo in a glass with some cooled down boiled water. Each morning and night time I just rubbed my lash line with a cotton bud dipped in the solution. It worked perfectly. You can see your lashes start to grow back.
My reason for reading this discussion today is that they have started falling out again, so I thought I'd do some searching. I have however already started the cotton bud / baby shampoo / water routine again. So hopefully all we be back soon. Good Luck!
