-
Hello everyone
Maria im glad for you both that the opp went well, lets hope hes home soon xx
sammy i suffered bad with panic attacks when i was first ill with thyroid and the doctor also gave me diazepan and they were a massive help but they did warn me not to use them every day, i had 5mgs to start with and found that half of one of them was enough to calm me down so i then asked for just 2mg tablets and i started to half them so it was just enough to take the edge off the panic,i really hope your feeling better soon ,i was always on here asking for advise when i was first ill because as we all know you can feel very alone when family and friends dont understand what your going through , everyone on here was a great help
,there for each other
.had my results today ,only had my blood done yesterday so that was quick ,T4 back to 30 and ths 0.01 but they upped my carbs yesterday so them levels should come down soon .
Take care everyone Deb xx

hi everyone, just to let you know my new results tsh.1.46... FT412.5 ..TT3 1.5 he said that all the symptoms i am having is Not from my thyroid ,its got to be from something else ,he is writing to my gp to get me seen by lol forgot now lots of other tests on my heart and lungs ,i said but what about my brain fog ect ,he said nothing to do with the thyroid ,so i said does that mean i have dementia .Oh no you are to young for that, but its certainly not related to your thyroid
anyway iasked him to put me on t3 so he wrote me a prescription for liothyronine 10 mcgs in a morning and ten at teatime ,i alsi asked if that if these dont work does he prescibe natural thyroxine he said yes with the consent of my gp and myself. He is also on my next bloods in 6 weeks time testing b12 coeliac screen and vit D levels ,when i asked him about antibody testing he said i would have to go to a ruemoligist for them . if i remember anything else i will post later sue xxx

To Susy 1 :
Hi Susy - I am really interested in your case -can you please re-post your blood tests again. Wanting to know what your circumstances of hyperthyroidism is?
My TPO and Thyroglobulin is NEGATIVE : from all the research I can see it appears my hyperthyrodism is not related to my immune system attacking my body ...... Have posted on here but it appears no one knows what TPO values signify
-
Hi All,
Steph I think if your TPO came back negative it means you don't have the anti bodies that cause an auto immune disease such as Graves Diease which is what I and most of the others on this site have. Sorry obviously I'm not a doctor so this is all from memory.
Sue wow you must have been in there ages! I'm glad they are referring you on for some more tests and well done for getting the T3 you never know it might just be what you need. According to my reference ranges your T3 level is quite low.
Maria congratulations on the birth of your grandson and I hope your husband and daughter are both home soon.
Kitchen still a work in progress I think it will be finished by the weekend I do hope so as I have no money left keeping Bess and Marigold in cream cakes :-)
Take Care,
Kat xxxx

Hi Kat1807 : Many thanks for your feedback ...... I really appreciate it I am getting really anxious to know whats going on with me!!! I luckily get my thyroid nuclear scan done tomorrow ..... and next thursday I get to see the endo in public heath so it won't cost me a fortune.
-
Acupuncture .... ONLY IF YOU CAN FIND a good acupuncturist : I truely recommend this. I originally thought it was my back ... but it was my thyroid goitre ... recommend it please try and let me know how you get on
-
Hello gang.
Hi Sue. Do you feel any happier now you've seen the endo? It's good he wants you to have more tests, and he does seem to have listened to you. He must have known about the brick in your handbag. :D It'll be interesting to see if the T3 makes a difference. It's about time they got you sorted out. xxxxx
Hi Deb. I hope your levels come back down again quickly. My T4 went up to 35 after I had the RAI, but it came back down quickly when I went back on Carb. Lucky you having a joiner for a partner. Do you hire him out? :D
Hi Kat. I hope your kitchen is finished this week, you must have had more than enough by now. It'll be nice to get the house back to yourselves. Bess and I will be pleased to get out of the cupboard, there's a limit to the number of cream cakes a girl can eat.

Hi Steph. I agree with Kat, your results show that you do not have an auto immune disease, and that you don't have Graves like most of us. That's something to be thankful for.

Hope everyone else is ok. You ok Bess?
Marigold,

Hi Marigold.... Thanks for the reply ...... I will confirm the negative status with the endo who I met next Thursday! .... My immune system has always been VERY GOOD i am not a sickly person at all!!!
Can I ask what was everyones immune system like before they got graves/hyperthyroidism?????
Having the thyroid nuclear scan this morning will update you on how it went
-
Hi Steph,
My immune system was very good but looking back with my Doctor I think my thryoid was acting up for about 7-8 years before finally get diagnosed. During the last 3 years I did get recurring tonsilitis, sinus infections and ear infections but didn't make a connection at the time.
I didn't get offered a nuclear scan, be interesting to see what your results say.
Kitchen still ongoing - must be the longest refit in history :-) I think Saturday has been mentioned as the final day, can't wait to have my house back.
Take Care All, I'm heading to bed been up since 5am taking my daughter to school so she could go on a school trip to an indoor snow centre, she has been skiing all day. She is full of beans, I on the otherhand am definately not.

Hi everyone,
I had the thyroid nuclear scan done yesterday morning. I also got some blood taken out of me by a big male nurse ..... funny thing was I never even felt the needle go in. I got injected with some radioactive iodine ... its enough equivalent to an xray. I waited 20minutes after drinking some water and got scanned. The staff were super friendly so it made the process easier. When the machine came slow to my face I did get a tad scared but just shut my eyes and breathed.
Results should be back in 24hours ... but I wont now how to interpret them till I see the endo.\
Hope you are all well.
Also ..... I am getting terrible munchies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I eat a big tea at 6pm ish and then at 10am when I am in bed my stomach is grumbling .... Ive got to eat to shut it up... Any opinons. ideas .. i am not putting weight on too
-
Hi Kat. I hope you get your kitchen finished by Saturday as promised. It'll be an even bigger celebration than the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. :D I get to the point where I feel like pushing the workmen out of the door.
Hi Steph. It'll be interesting when you get your scan results. An increased appetite is a symptom of an overactive thyroid. It will settle down when your levels come down.
Hope everyone else is ok.

Hi everyone ,Marigold i was in with endo for over half an hour ,i am not happy with him at all ,my t3 is way too low yet he said it was fine (PRAT) since being on the T3 some of the breathlessness has been better,he tol me to take 20mcgs a day which is far too much so i am taking just 5 morning and night ,i cant understand why he didnt tell me to take T4 either at a reduced dose ,I am going to ask my GP if he can refer me to someone else ..I think the brick worked i told him Marigold had armed me with support
at the moment i am just waiting for some energy to kick in hope it doesnt take long ,i am feeling a tad different in my mood but cant put my finger on it ..hope you and family are well Steph my results are on this page if you scroll up ,maybe when i have been on this new med i will be able to answer questions ,hope you are good and get good results ,Its a long worring journey but you will get there.
Kat what time to you want us to come for a meal in your new kitchen? does it look nice
bess how are you hun are you enjoying the good weather
Maria hows your husband and daughter and baby ,thinking of you
Anyone i have missed how you are all well

Hi guys ive been finding it a bit hard to breath for the last half hour as if something blocking it any ideas
-
Hi Sammy : Do you have a goitre???? Try to do something to relax ( I know this sounds cheesey ) but found it really hard to breath in bed and had to prop myself up on pillows to help
-
Hey guys,
i haven't been on for a while but tracked it down now. quick update for you. i came off cab in october and my T4 and TSH stayed in the normal range. My TSH continued to lower gradually and the T4 increased accordingly. I saw my endo three times following 3 blood tests in Nov Jan and Feb. He said that the T4 and TSH were settled and i was not going to have anymore problems. I asked him why the TSH would keep lowering but he said it was normal. On the last occasion the TSH was 0.9 and T4 was 17.9. He discharged me from his outpatient care and told me to have regular tests over the next 2 years. Telling me i had a 15% chance of going Hyper again. Strangely though the endo i saw before this one said that because i had the anti-bodies, the chances of me falling ill again were very high.
Anyway, last week i had a blood test and after a 10 minute wait (while they decided whether i was allowed the results) , the results were TSH less than 0.03 and T4 23.6. So now i have to wait 2 weeks for a GP appointment and then wait again while she refers me back to the hospital. And in the meantime i'm feeling hot and anxious (crazily anxious) i'm taking propanalol for that which also hid the Hyper symptoms. And to top a good couple of weeks of i was told today that i'm at risk from redundancy. My mind spinning more than ever. Hope all that makes sense.

Hi all, just a quick update,
I had the RAi in January, and went into a test group where you go cold turkey, and they do 6 wkly blood tests and dose you accordingy, after my first blood test everything apparently was just about normal, I was slightly under, but nothing to be concerned with.
After that I started to get really tired, freezing cold all the time, loss of appetite, weight gain, the terrible muscle pains,so much so that I had to stop working out, to be fair, I barely had the energy to move, trying to keep going with a full-time and a part-time job through this illness is not advisable!! When I wasn't working I was sleeping!
I knew I wasn't right but kept thinking i'm seeing the endo at the end of next month just keep going till then! Very stupid! I had my blood test done the wk before my appointment, and the endo called me up before my appointment to tell me that I was seriously under and I need to start on the thyroxine immediately. That was 6 weeks ago, so I am on 100thyroxine a day, and only came back to life properly in the last couple of wks.
Now my hair has started falling out again, my guts are playing me up, and i started getting the palpitations in work again last night, though not sure if that was because it was a crazy busy night in the pub and natural high or from this blooming sickness Grrr I never seem to know what's real and what's sickness anymore!!
Any way, I am now back at the gym and swimming daily again, and the weight is coming off : )
Just got to keep telling myself there is light at the end of the tunnel, and in the great scheme of things I'm doing more than OK, my leg hasn't dropped off and I haven't been hit by a bus. It's the only way to stop the self pity : )
Take care all xx

Hi HUX You have scared the life out of me as I am going shortly forRAI treatment. At the moment I dont feel too badand my blood tests are ok t4 20.8 tsh 1.97 However this is because I am still on 10carbinzale and 50 thyroxine per day.Am I wise taking the RAI treatment do you think or should I just carry on with the medication. My dr and specialist seem to think because of the antibodies in my blood I would be better having RAI.Any of you any thoughts on this?I just wish to feel normal again.
