  2. Hi Amanda001 ..

I do feel for you and understand totally where your at. 2 years ago I had orlistat and lost 2 stone in 8 weeks ..lovely for a nice dress for my sons wedding ..but then GP only let me have it for 4 months and since then weight is gradually creping back on even though I am careful with what I eat the extra weight makes me feel slower and sluggish too.

Unfortunately I have various health problems that make exercise difficult but do take a briskish walk each day.

Some days I just cant resist some extra savouries no matter how hard I try (dont have too much of a sweet tooth) but try to make them low calorie snacks.

Ive stopped chocolate completely and only eat bread at the weekends ..I rarely have an odd glass of wine perhaps once a fortnight ..I trim fat off everything and use skimmed milk in my tea/coffee and a sweetner.

My breakfast is a crispbread scraped with marmite ..and lunch chopped iceberg lettuce with small weight watchers Tuna..a meat and veg meal in the evening..

I just think some of us have a slower metabolism and the orlistat helped things pass through more quickly which helped me a great deal without any nasty side effects.

My gp again prescribed orlistat a few weeks ago and told me that I can be on it for a year at a time but like you Im so frustrated that I cant get it now..

  3. Hi Amanda smile I dont know if you ever try the cabbage soup and diet coming with it. But before I got Orlistat I tried this diet and I can only say is working to lose weight. I lost 1 stone in week time. My GP told me that cabbage soup is not the solution for the weight lose for long time so finally I got Orlistat. This diet is good to try yourself if you can manage without junk food and sweets. After few days on this soup you forget about sweets and you would feel like you have more energy. On the second or third day you may feel so so hungry and even going mad but is only 7 days. You just have to try and not cheat smile I send you a link

  4. Hi all, I'm having the same problem. I'm a bit annoyed as I'm disabled and have to rely on my mom to come and pick me up to get prescriptions etc. Surely the surgeries you go to should have an idea of the problem if it's nationwide? I can't exercise so I have trouble losing weight and I was finally looking forward to something positive! I don't eat a lot of rubbish but if I do it all helps. I'm getting ready to write a list of all the smaller pharmacies so I can call them on Monday. Fingers crossed ey?! Hope everyone has better luck :-)

  5. Hi Fliss

Are you eating enough carbs? You say sometimes you can't resist extra savouries yet in your post you appear to not be eating anywhere near enough. Recommended 6 (for the sedentary person. 9 for an active adult) so that's between 6 and 9 pieces of bread (or pasta, potatoes, rice etc). It's essential that you do, or your body doesn't lose weight. You also appear to eat very low fat diet. It's important that you have some fat to feel full. I have repeatedly tried to eat a very low fat diet and cut down on quantity of food but it doesn't work. Now I'm eating more than ever and the weight is coming off at two lbs per week. Plus I no longer think about food and what I 'shouldn't' eat. I eat 6 to 9 carbs and sweets an treats daily too. This is the first time in years and years that I feel I'm making progress.

    Good luck.

  6. Hey all

Just thought i would let u know i was in asda today and thought i would ask if they'd had any news, she went and checked and they'd had a delivery but only had a split pack left, she so she said to call round the chemists asap to try and get some. She also said they have stopped doing the over counter stuff they will only be doing the one u get on prescription

  7. Hello all!

I've been following this forum for a while so hello all.

After 3 months of no alli I took myself to the doctors 2 months ago and was given a subscription for Xenical.

I have not been able to get hold of any for a while now so I'm in the waiting game too.

As I said I previously took alli which is 1/2 dose of xenical and is available over the counter at around £1 per 3 pills. Sadly as it is made with orilstat this was also impossible to get hold of.

I had been googling daily to find news until yesterday when finally its come back in stock.

Sad news is it appears to only be the US pharmacies that have stock. Either way orilstat is making its way back to us, although I think it will be a few weeks yet sad

  8. Hi Rockyrabbit thats intresting.. I do have some wholemeal pasta with my evening meal a couple of times a week and potatoes (including roast potatoes on sundays) but I do try to keep very low fat ..

Where did you find the diet you are on it sounds really good .. I would love to lose the food cravings.

Also I rang one of the pharmacies here in Essex and they have been having some small supplies getting through and suggested I leave my prescription with them as they have cleared most of their backlog ..

I asked why my local Boots has not had any supplies and they said " because they dont try hard enough,we send in an order twice a day"

so hopefully supplies are slowly getting through but it looks like the bigger chain pharmacies will be the last to get them.

  9. Hi Fliss.

Cravings happen because you are not eating enough of that food type or enough food in general. Its your body telling you. I notice you say you sometimes have pasta etc but try to keep to a low fat diet. There is very little fat in bread, pasta, potatoes etc. It's not a 'diet' I'm on it's the governments recommended portions. If you're not sedentary then you need 7 to 9 carbs a day. When you do this, those cravings will stop. Try it. If you want every food group I can give you the revommendations. Plus if you have an email I can email you the daily record sheets I use but don't know what this site says about email.

  10. Hi Rockyrabbit/Fliss,

i have found lots of websites overseas that still have xenical in stock, the prices are soooooo high tho, around £90 for 60 tabs, thats crazy money !!!! but then im also thinkin im desperate to have this god dam tabs 2

    x

  12. Hi Amanda, yes the price is to high! But I think if i would spend £90 paying for xenical I would lose much more of my weight, because there would be no money left to buy food :D, Let me know about any updates smile

  13. Haha Plum i was thinking the same! :D

  14. From Alli website

Q: What happened, why is there a supply shortage of alli?

    A:

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSK) is continuing its investigation of a potential quality issue involving a third party supplier of the active ingredient used in the alli® product. This investigation is ongoing; however, GSK has made the decision to voluntarily place all alli product in our warehouses on hold until such time as additional information is available. To date, there is no evidence that this potential quality issue will impact the safety profile of the product.

The potential concerns and GSK’s stop shipment actions are being communicated to the appropriate regulatory agencies. The FDA and EMA regulatory authorities are in full agreement with our decision. GSK is confident the product on store shelves has met all established specifications for safety and efficacy.

  15. Hi Fender_gurl

Thanks for taking the trouble to find info and post it here to keep us all updated.

I like a lot of others have been ringing around but had no luck finding any at all.

Just have to keep trying I suppose.

  16. Its not problem just like to share so everyone knows smile

I rang around 25 places yesterday with no luck. Just wish they would get this sorted sad

  17. @plum84, ha ha the same thought had crossed my mind.

I just wanted to let u all know, today i googled - who has stock of xenical and quite a few sites came up with so called explanations to low stock, thought u all might want to take a look, the first site i went to that caught my eye was healthexpress blog, check it out

still kinda feel like were being fobbed off tho ?? dunno ??

    Happy reading guys x

  18. Hi to all and to you Amanda, I have went to the pharmacy today and I got my Orlistat, I spoke with with the lady from the pharmacy and she said they are getting delivery each month but is limited. I am travelling outside town to this pharmacy each month because thats the only place where they offered me waiting list. Today there was not a problem and they had 3 boxes left smile Try Numark pharmacies

  19. ahhhhhhhhh plum, im soooooooooo pleased 4u.

    Happy dieting

    x

  20. Hi, looked at the Healthcare website who after answering the list of questions was able to purchase the Orlistat for £139.00 for 84 tablets. I don't think so!!!!!!!!. Why are they available at such an extortionate price, yet we can't get them on paid prescription!!

I have gone back to slimminng world but it has took over two months to loose 1 stone as I cant excercise because of the pain in my knee. Going back to doc's on Monday so will let you know how i get on if there is a substitute for Xenical. keep positive smile
