Newly Diagnosed with BPPV...err maybe

  1. I have had vertigo for years, from being unable to sit up in bed to the room spinning whenever I look up or down. I had a bad attack in May and then another in June, so my GP refered me to ENT, from whence I have returned.

Mr consultant is unsure what is causing my dizzynes but he thinks it might be BPPV. I have constant tinnitus, day and night, and although it doesn't disturb me when I am asleep, it is my constant companion when I am awake. I also have hearing loss with the lower noises in both ears.

I have come home with instructions for the Brant-Darroff exercise which I shall have a go at to see if it helps me at all. This condition interferes with my everyday life and work so I am willing to have a go at anything.

    :? :? :?

I would be happy to hear of anyone with a similar experience.

  2. Tinnitus and BPPV are not necessarily related, but can (I was told) co-exist and be wrongly associated with one another. I'm not a Doctor, so don't quote me. :? I have constant BPPV attacks which are supressed with medication.

However, working in a Call Centre (as I do  ) where you are attached to headphones and never-ending screeching people all day long, is not the best environment for someone with either condition.

Thankfully I do not experience long-lasting Tinnitus as a rule, but I never leave the Office without a headache - often migrainous - and associated bouts of small-to-severe occurences of Scintillating Scotoma as a result of staring at a VDU all day long.
