Nervous Breakdown - help!

  1. Hi

My best friend who is a mother of 3 had a breakdown 2 months ago. Prior to the breakdown she was hugely stressed, fatigued, extremely angry and irritable. She was someone who was

always in control, and never listened to anyone. When she had the breakdown she believed

people were filming her and didn't feel safe.

The doctor put her on 10mg Citalopram. With the medicine she had a complete change of

personality. She became more loving and happier and was doing things she'd never do before. However, she still wasn't cooking and put all this pressure on her 15 yrs old daughter. She

came off the meds two weeks ago and has started using TNT tape all over the house, sticking it around edges, cupboards, walls, etc. She says it's a work of art and won't let anyone take it off. The children are getting frightened and we don't know what to do. she also keeps repeating the words 'peace out' and drives with her hand out of the window with the peace sign. She's had a

complete change of personality. The GP just says that it's a nervous breakdown and will take

time, but I'm beginning to think it's something else. My friends's mother and brother are both

Schizophrenic and she may have this. What is happening to her? Any replies greatly

    appreciated.

  2. The only thing to watch out for is a her being a threat to herself or others.

If the meds were helping is there a reason why she stopped?
