Metronidazole - after effects

   After tooth root treatment I acquired an abscess which almost doubled the size of my face. I revisited the dentist who prescribed Metronidazole. I faithfully took them and during the course of 1 every eight hours I had stomach cramps. I finished the course and I still have cramps in my upper stomach area and the feeling of wanting to burp. Loose tummy too.

   Any sympathetic advice?

   Hey,

   I have just been in hospital with some sort of infection. The doctors couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly but prescribed metronidazole for a week. I was pretty much back to normal on Sunday (5 days after coming out of hospital and the day I finished my metron. course), went back to work on Monday and just done a full working week. However in the past 48 hours I have deteriorated greatly and had to work from home today. Current symptoms are diarrhoea, loss of appetite (feeling hungry but not feeling like eating, if that makes sense) and stomach cramps.

   I know this is an old thread but I can't really find anything about the after effects of this drug besides this thread - can you tell me if it eventually passed without further treatment? If so, how long did it take? If it required further treatment, what was it? I may be able to get it without going back to hospital.
