IF YOU HAVE THREADWORMS - PLEASE READ!

  1. Carrie, even though having these damn wriggling critters can be very distressing and when they are playing up i dread going to bed cos that is usually when they 'come down' I am relieved (even though i dont wish em on others) that im not alone and that i can come on here and talk about this so it dont seem as though im so alone and that others understand.

When im having a bad bout of them i get very down but a bad bout hasnt happened for a good few months,

I had them last wk twice but ive been taking the pumpkin seeds - a spoonful of roasted with a bit of tamari every day. Hoping that keeps the numbers down and manages them abit. I did have a phase of taking black walnut tincture (tastes abit disgusting but yule try these things in the hope they work). I think you can spend alot of money on pills and potions and they still come back so fingers crossed with the pumpkin seeds. My brother who is a homeopath told me about something called 'Diatomaceous Earth' you need the food grade kind, it is used as an anti parasitic. Wouldnt it be good to take some of this regularly and never be bothered with threadworms again!!! Would save such alot of misery and annoyance and sleepless nights but again....fingers crossed on the pumpkin seeds!!!! wink

  2. Hi I know what you mean about a bad bout although I have never really lost any sleep over it. I think I can shut myself off sometimes I suppose I have had to. I have heard of the Diatmaceous Earth but don't know where to get it from. Also scared because apparently if you breath it in it has a bad effect on the lungs. If you find any more info out can you let me know please. I have a bad bout about every couple of years I think and then I take Mebendazole and forget about it usually although this last time really distressed me and affected my marriage. My husband thinks if you can't see them then you don't have them because he had them as a child and saw them in the toilet bowl. I never ever saw mine in the toilet bowl and if it weren't for my mum checking my "sore" bum as a child would never have known what they were. Does your brother not have any other homeopathic cures? Do you ever take medication? I know this is going to sound gross but as a teenager I used to put toilet paper into my bum and never felt a thing after a few days because I knew if I told my mum she would make me drink that horrible Piperazine and it nearly made me vomit.

I read a US health site and there was a guy on there who suggested using sudocream into the anus a couple of times a day for a couple of months and to take Kelp=Iodine supplement. He said a lot of people are iodine deficientand this causes them to thrive. I started doing that but after a month got fed up with the sudocream thing, I could actually feel more when I used it although I am still taking the Kelp tablets to see if they make a difference. They have certainly helped my irritable bladder thus far.

God I really could talk about this subject all day but need some sleep so take care. Must buy some pumpkin seeds.

Take care and keep me posted as I will you!

  3. I dont see much difference in taking some food or other or just taking tablets every few months. ok the tabs probably cost more money but that shouldn't be a huge issue. Since I posted on here my irritation went away and is now back again having not taken any medication at all. Keep telling myself to get some Pripsen but never do. The irritation is a tad annoying but I don't find it life changing and certinaly don't think about it for more than the time it is annoying me. The thing that baffles me most is a worm can never been seen on a stool whereas when I had them as a kid I could see them easily.

  4. Yeah baffles me too. They must develop an ability to become invisible as a survival technique lol. Yes I shall just take tablets if they annoy me again as well and in the meantime just forget about them again, otherwise it will drive me insane thinking about it

  5. Hello I'm new to all of this I found I had them sat night and that was the third day of the itchy wriggling sensation. I'm finding it really hard to know what I can do as I'm pregnant I'm not allowed to take any medication. I have been eating lots of garlic and taking garlic tablets. I'm also putting Vaseline up inside and around my rectum as I read this makes it harder for the females to lay eggs and found some dead in my underwear when I woke up this morning. I'm washing my hands all the time and having two baths a day.

I've done some research and it said when they come down to lay their eggs they then crawl back up to die. One of the responses I've read above me says they will die and spread their eggs whilst doing so, so either way they will be releasing eggs inside of me. I really do not know what else to do? The last two night have been better and I've been able to sleep but reading previous posts I'm not worried I'm not doing the right thing.

  8. I don't really know what to advise you since you are pregnant. Have you seen your doctor yet? Mind you most of them are clueless anyway. I have heard that vaseline does ease symptoms. If you keep on bathing and washing your hands the population of them should at least get down to a comfortable level and then you could take some Mebendazole after you have delivered (be prepared to take more than two doses though to get rid of them). Also anyone else living with you should be dosed now in case they were the cause of the infection in the first place (even if they don't have any symptoms). Also try eating pumpkin seeds as these paralyse them and they are then passed in the stool. Good luck.

  9. Thanks carrie1 all my family have taken the pills for it as I'm the only one who seems to have it. Im only 11.5 weeks pregnant so I've got a way to go. I just really hope what I'm doing will help. I need to get some pumpkin seeds and need to ring my doc tomorrow as nhs direct couldn't advise me anything nor could a pharmacist they weren't even aware of garlic Vaseline etc. I'm just worried about the Vaseline if it doesn't help and could cause more problems like someone else mentioned.

  10. I'm not sure about that theory about vaseline causing more problems, I personally haven't tried it but have read some peoples stories about how they "cured" theirs using only vaseline and strict hygiene. Who knows? Even the doctors don't have a clue. The focus at the minute though for you should be getting the numbers down so I think something natural like the pumpkin seeds should help and strict hygiene measures. I have also heard that eating pineapple and garlic can help. Good luck and keep us updated. I am symptomless at the minute thank God although who knows they could still be there knowing my luck!

  11. Yes and also a little tip for you if you are having problems sleeping, it always helped me as a child was to push some toilet paper into the anus before you get into bed and remove in the morning. And this method did not make mine worse contrary to what people have said on this thread, it actually got rid of my symptoms after a while. Just do this until you can't feel them anymore. I know it sounds gross but believe me it will definitely help you!!

  12. That's also a good tip as they need oxygen to release eggs and then go back up inside to die so if I bung them up so to speak they can't do it. I will have a look in health shop tomorrow see if I can get some I will keep you informed. At least my sleeping pattern is getting better. I'm eating about 4 cloves of garlic a day I just have a fear them still being there when I'm in labour (long way off though) that would be horrible. I really appreciate your help.

  13. You are very welcome I'm somewhat of an expert on these horrible creatures. My husband thinks I am insane and have never even had them so there you go! Good luck.

  14. My husband is in Scotland and when I told him he started laughing wish it was him at least he could take something to help and not just everything apart from it. Did you ever kill any when you had a look down there?

  15. The thing is I haven't seen many of them in my life. The last time I had them about 4 years ago I took medication and saw one in the toilet bowl and then nothing more after a while. Mine like to hide lol....

  16. Fingers crossed I have a third night of good sleep again, I keep checking my daughter but she has nothing there hopefully she won't get them as she's under 2 and can't take medication either. I've eliminated just over a dozen I think. The Internet is so vague about them it said only a small percentage of eggs get through (not sure if your body is meant to fight them off at the egg stage) but it doesn't say what the percentage is.

  17. Yeah I definitely think it's an immune system problem. When you are pregnant as well, your immune system is lower so that's probably why you are highly infected with them. I think what happens is that the immune system eventually fights back and the best thing you can do is be as hygenic as possible. I always considered myself very clean but now I make sure I wash my hands before putting anything (even a sweet) into my mouth. Afterall, I type all day in work and you just don't know what you have touched that might have the eggs because they are invisible (how convenient for their breeding eh lol). Anyway all the best and do keep me updated. My horrible time is over at the minute (until they strike again!) Sleep tight!

  18. Yeah that's what my mum thought bloody things taking my babies nutrients how dare they lol luckily in this pregnancy I only want savoury things whereas with my daughter all I wanted was cakes and sweets so they would have thrived. Someone put honey on garlic that would cancel out the garlic effects with all the sugar lol. Let's hope you don't get them anytime soon I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'll let you know how I get on thank you so much for your advice

  19. I'm still having a small handfull of pumpkin seeds everyday, just to keep numbers down....ya never know - may get shot of them completely YAY!!

I also take a homoeopathic rem regularly called "Cina" which is a worm rem, dont know if it works but i take it anyway.

I roast the pumpkin seeds lightly and then sprinkle over tamari and let them cool and they can be stored in a jar.

BTW, the worst outbreak/infestation of thread worms i ever had was when i was preggy with my second child, that was back in 1986.

I also eat just about every day raw garlic crushed in a buttie or on a rice salad as raw garlic is supposed to piss 'em off and annoy em ...fortunately, i love raw garlic and homemade humous is regularly on the menu in our home.

  20. I've just killed 5 these dam things are really annoying me now. I've even resulted to putting some crushed garlic down there ouch I had to rub some off but hopefully they will smell it. I'm now eating a carrot and I'm vaselined up last night wasn't too bad woke at 3 and killed a couple. Lots of dead ones in my stool then right after they all came out in force. Called my doctor suggested I stick it out until I have the baby so will have to wait 6 months if they don't go. I read that pumpkin seeds paralize them but then I can't take a laxative to flush them so they will soon be back up and running
