I would also like to share my story. I recently 3 months ago got a small what I thought was apimple on my calf. left it alone as I never get any pimples, 46 years old and it grew to a very large size,about the size of a large marble under my skin. I went to my doctor and he put me on antibiotics and then told me to go to emerg to have it lanced open and drained. Was on antibiotics for a total of 3 weeks and had the opening caused by lancing packed every day for about 10 days before it healed to the surface of my skin...2 weeks after that another what I thought was a pimple appeared on my buttox and then 2 more right beside each other. Not thinking that they would ever get as big as the one on my calf I just left them alone... well they grew alright so large that I had to revist my doctor and was again put on antibiotics for another 3weeks.. no lancing but took for ever to heal and did not heal until they broke open and released the pus inside.. it is not over yet... My youmgest son who does not live with me daily also told me he had a pimple under his arm that was very sore... looked the same so off to the doctor. Topical cream and antibiatics for him. they cleared up BUT he has just recently got another and our doctor is very concerned that one of us may be a carrier of this baterical staph infection. My son is now using topical cream for his sores and also using cream in his nasal passage????? I have since developed another and just on the mend from that one.. We have the same doctor and he does not think they are related.. i do not have a medical degree but it sure seems they are. the surprising thing is kids do not usally get these boils /carbuncles??? I see him tomorrow and hopefully we will have this all figured out and we will both get rid of this bacterial re-occuring infections for good....hoping for the best and very worried about my 11 year old son.
