I know its was amlodipine!

  1. Hi Phoebe,

This is a bug in the system when a discussion gets to 20 or 40 replies and goes on to the next page. As they go on to the next page when you click through from an email it appears as if they have gone. This will be fixed in the next update soon and now I have posted this reply the links should now work again.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Regards,

    Alan

  2. I have found the comments again, thanks Merlin its good to hear that the herbal remedies are working for you, hopefully they will for me soon. Also I have read somewhere that pomegranite juice lowers bp so think I'll go and buy some later.

  3. Amlodipine 5mg was increased to 10 mg within 2 weeks late in October 2010. by late Nov and early Dec2010 my libido went from high to nearly zero. the unfortunate thing I was away on consultancy work and came back only for my wife to complain about me not up for more that 2minutes. it was an embarrasing position I have never found myself. I started to look for reasons then I read the leaflet where part of the side effect is low libido. I screamed then showed my wife. this medicine nearly break my relationship.

  4. I am taking ramopril 10mg and have now been given a prescription for amlodipine 5mg to be taken in

conjunction. Having read these posts i'm terrified to take it now.

  5. Hi Waymie, when I took Ramipril I thought I had found the perfect solution, but as I posted within 3 months my joints started to become really sore. So I went on line and that’s where I discovered that this tablet can cause joint problems. It did lower my Blood pressure but I had to stop. It was only after checking with the Doctor she put me on Amiodipine and that was a total disaster.

  6. Hi I am a 58 year old female. I started taking Amlodipine three months ago and effects gradually crept up on me - but they were horrendous . It was my partner who was concerned and kept asking me if I was Ok. poor man I seemed to be undergoing a combination of PMT and the menpause rolled into one. The rest of the time I was in La La land - it was only the other day when I drove through a red light and then thought "Oh I've just driven through a red light - never mind" - that I realised I needed to get off those tablets. Reading other peoples experiences has helped a lot - thought I just had dementia but was too zonked out to care. I only stopped my tablets yesterday on the advice of my GP. Already I feel better - like I'm waiting up.

  7. Hi Puffpixie I hope that you are feeling a bit more like your self now that you have stopped the Amlodipine. It is a teribble drug and again I say it should be banned. I am fine now on Losartin how ever I do feel a bit lethargic an hour after taking it but the tiredness wears off after a while. I am back in work and my BP is now much better. I felt as though I was on a different planet when I was on the Amlodipine and when I tried to walk into our local town which I have done without problems for almost all my life, I was so unsteady on my feet that I was lucky not to have fallen over. Amlodipine made me feel so ill I thought that I was going to die at one point and like yourself my family became very concerned. I was unable function around the house and work was out of the question. How could I calculate drug doses when I didn't even know my own name. I have never felt so scared in my life and knew that the drug was having a terrible effect on me. Still at least after four attempts my GP listened and took me off it and I have got my life back. I hope that things continue to improve for you and that your BP gets controlled by medication that will not affect your quality of life.

    Take care

    Anastasia

  8. Back from a lovely 2 week break, unfortunately BP has not improved,I am be coming quite concerned when other people are posting their "high" readings as mine is averaging at 220/135.Having looked online at some bp charts and realising that some of them do not go that high I am worried as I have also read that my readings are at a fatal level!Tried to get appt at my useless surgery but told they have none for 2 weeks!Just waiting for a call back to get an emergency app as Ikeep getting all dizzy and confused and also blacking out so need to find out whats going on,hope you guys are all feeling better now and back in the normal world rather than on planet amlodopine!

  9. Hi Phoebe I am so glad that you have had a lovely break. I read about your concerns about your BP readings and yes they are a bit high. What I suggest since you are experiencing dizzy spells and confussion, is that you take yourself into your A&E department rather than wait for your GP to see you. They can monitor you and give you something to bring down your BP, then your GP can keep an eye on you in the community. I will be honest, your BP is high and you need to be seen, but please tell them that you cannot take Amolodopine and they will probably try something else. Please let me know how you get on because if I was experiencing the symptoms that you are having then I would get advise. It may be because you have been away in the heat, and have flown, but you still need to be seen. Take care and please keep in touch .

  10. I am now on Ramopril after concerns that I was about to have a stroke,I had what they called a hypertentive emergency, off to out of ours GP as my tongue has all swollen up and tingling.

  11. Hey guys! I know how a lot of you feel though the amlodipine did an extra little number on me. The amlodipine actually increased my blood pressure and pulse. My blood pressure was, at it's worst, 213/115! And episodes of my heart racing knocked me down for the count with it spiking to 130bpm just resting! I begged my docs to get me off it and they increased it which increased the effects. Eventually, I demanded to be back on my old meds which worked fine (the beta blocker atenolol) and now I am finally able to ween myself off the amlodipine. What a horrible experience and I am never going back!

  12. hi, i'v been on blood pressure tabs for about 15 years now, water tabs benzos, asprin 0.75,fossinopril 20mg,simvastin20mg,amlodipine 5mg,then doctor retires get new doctor,he says i'v been on these tabs a long time now,we need to increase the dosage,so changes fossinopril to ramipril 10mg because they no longer making fossinopril, and increase amlodipine to 10mg,then i must have blood count done, fbc that comes back with low white blood count so go on ferritin iron tabs 3 aday 100mg each tab, then lala land, swollen ankles, calf muscles killing me ,back pain can't sleep at night, memory loss, tinnitus in ears, sinus problems, eyesight going, back to doctor ,oh ramipril not agreeing with you,we will try lisinopril 10mg,i have a wardrobe full of pillows, change them nearly every night, new matteress 12inch foam, cotton wool in my ears to stop the sweat running in them, because i wake up covered in sweat,my head is soaked with sweat ,all this time i have never asked just what these tablets are supposed to be doing, i know its to get my blood pressure down,i trusted my old doctor, but now i want to know what the doctor is trying to achieve by taking all these tabs and is there any alternatives to taking them,so any recomendations would be helpfull ,thanks (please excuse any spellings i have made )

  13. I am glad I came across these comments regarding Amlodipine. My doctor prescribed a 10 mg dose three weeks ago. The past week or so I noticed I felt tired and unusually lethargic and was waking up all night long. The last three nights have been virtually sleepless.Started to lose interest in doing anything the past few days. I decided to checkout side effects for this pill and fortunately arrived at this website. I will cease taking any nore of these tabs. Seeing my doctor tomorrow and will tell him to prescribe something else...hopefully something that wont wreck my health further.

  14. hi,its been few days now surffing internet, but got bored with all the tech talk writen down,(it just means i have to consentrate when reading) and its hard to do with all these aches and pains,so i thought i would go on youtube see what others are doing about high blood pressure,at least i just have to listen, then up pops, DR Joel Wallach, if nothing else the doctor is a character, and explains in a way i can relate to,watch some of his videos see if he as some answers,JOEL WALLACH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

  15. walked into my docters one day about 2 yrs ago. nurse came out and said would anyone like a flu jab ,by the way i felt fit as a fiddle i was just there with my daughter i had stopped smoking and was on healthy diet only 10 stone age 68 femail .since then i have been in the worse state in my whole life, The nurse took my blood pressure and told me it was high .doc put me on lisinthropol and my days were numberd i became a wreck could not go out alone for the next year fianting and rapid palpatations scard out of my witts .went back to the doc put me on bisoprolol cant sleep legs cramping waking me up all night.Cant hardly do anything might as well have an elephant on my back . 16. Hi every one I am back. I forgot my password and had difficulty getting back onto the forum, but thanks to the very kind people on the help line, I have managed to get back in for a chat. I am sorry to read how many people are being affected by BP tablets how ever Amlodipine seems to be one of the worst for side effects . I am on Losartin Potassium and even though I feel rather lethagic an hour after taking it,, I am much better since I stopped the Amlodipine. I have also made sure that I get regular blood checks to watch my Potassium levels are safe and so far all is looking good also my BP is down to 120/76 which is brilliant. I could not have stayed on the Amlodipine and realise now how ill it was making me feel. I have also spoken to a few friends who have family members on this medication and they all say the same that their reliatives are experiencing many of the side affects quoted. I realy feel that something should be done about it because people are suffering from horrendous conditions such as painful joints, swollen feet and legs and night sweats, just to name a few. However all these can be tolerated, but it was the feeling of not being on this planet and the fact that I could not walk in a straight line that realy frightened me. Still after constantly speaking to my GP about how ill I was feeling I got results and am back to my old bouncy self.

  17. Hi, Stacy, it's been almost 3 months since I stopped taking any B/P tablet, and I have managed to stay within a 148/88 range as to B/P. When I last went to the Doctor he told me if I could keep to the upper 140's and upper 80's then I would be OK. I have lost weight which helps and continued with Beetroot Tabs and so far feel OK. However it might not suit everyone and I did check this with my Doctor before starting.

    Regards Merlin

  18. Hi Merlin I am so glad that you are feeling well and that your BP is remaining at a steady level. I am also doing well and my GP is pleased with my progress. I have altered my diet to include more Beetroot and and am taking a different approach to the stress in my life. So it is all good and now I can enjoy my life knowing that my BP is undercontrol. No body likes taking tablets or the side effects that they have, but if one can cope with them then it is all worth it. However I could never have functioned if I had remained on the Amlodipine. I would have had to finish work because I was like a zombie and I knew that they were poisoning me so I do feel for every one who is suffering their horrendous side effects.

    Bye for now Anastasia

  19. Very many thanks everyone for this info' on Amlodipine, I though it was me at first - I have been suffering like the person who first posted on the discussion. Only been taking them about a month and exhausted after picking a few strawberries and legs/calfs/ankles ache unbelievably. Contacted 'Doc' today took me off them and now going on to Lisinopril - 58 years old & need them for blood pressure, last year did a 10k in about 57 minutes - couldn't do 1k at the moment....hoping to be fighting fit again soon.

  20. Dear victor i know its not for me to say BUT i was put on lisinopol 2 yrs ago and allthough i was 66 at the time i also was very fit. I ONLY went for a flu jab and the nurse told me my blood pressure was high i went down hill from there .My health went from being happy go lucky to a nervous wreck..giddy heart palpatations.feeling sick.scared all the time constantly taking my blood presure as the docter and nurse told me i could have a heart attack or stroke at any time.WELLto cut a long story short.if i was you, like i did do some research on lisinopol if you start to feel like i did .The docter also give me amiodipine but looked these up and more horrer storys, Wellnow i know i get white coat term used for blood pressure rising. so i know now my blood pressure is sure good for my age so now i take i 1-25 mg bisoprolol and better than anything 1 high strenth garlic pilland one high strenth omega 3 capsule and guess what victor im bouncing again .thinking of going to hearbalist doc if i ever have problems in the future. GOOD LUCK and alway.s know exactley what you are putting into your body,RESEARCH, KEY WORD TRUST ONLY YOURSELF FIRST , ALL THE BEST,
