  1. I have been suffering from Urticaria since 1996. The symptoms came out of the blue as, up to that point I had not suffered with any skin conditions.

I have been taking Fexofenadine since 1998, 1 in the morning, and 1 piriton at night. On the odd occasion I forget to take them I suffer terribly. Even taking the tablets daily, it would be a rare occasion if i managed to get through 1 whole day without itching somewhere.

The main sight are my waist, arms, legs, neck and on accesions around the torso area, never on the face.

I have seen a specialist who decided that I had a multi allergy to certain types of food, dust, and possibly chemicals. I think I also suffer when stressed.

Strangly enough whenever I go abroard, I never itch. I was in the Maldives, xmas 2004, and was caught up in the tsunami. I lost all my medication (along with most of my other belongings), and one would think that I was stressed?! We lived on pasta and boiled rice and water (minimal portions only for obvious reasons)for several days but I still did not suffer any itching (aside from a nasty mosquitoe bite).

i visited a therapist for allergies in 1997 when he seemed to think that I may be allergic to fibrolin, apparently found in dairy products, washing powders etc.

I continue to order my prescription every 2 months and probably will do into the forseeable future....

  2. When I was 10 years old I used to be able to write my name on my skin with anything mildly sharp, within 10 minutes there it would be bold as anything raised about a 1/16th of an inch off my body, pure white and surrounded with red inflamation , my friends thought it was cool , until one day I got hit square on in the face with a soccer ball and my face swelled up and turned to leather, it was pretty awful, I eventually went to see a doctor and he told me basically it was a form of Urticaria and I would grow out of it, I did, for about 30 years , but now it is back but not as bad.

Just recently though I have been getting a pretty severe rash which started with my neck and head but has now moved to my torso and back , it is constantly there but not visible until I sweat, and boy when I sweat it turns blood red and itches and burns very severely , the skin which is affected does not tan under the sunlight but remains white and I am starting to look like a patchwork quilt , I dont know wether this is related to my Urticaria or wether it is something else, for a while I thoought it was shingles as it is very painful, I went to my GP and they gave me an EKG ??? apparently the tingling and stabbing pains could be related to heart problems, as for the rash ??, they didnt know , Iwas told a long time ago by my previous doctor to avoid antibacterial soaps as they cleansed the skin too much and killed all the bacteria that fights of fungus infections and they told me to rub selsun blue all over my body for 20 minutes to kill the fungus, that worked for the previous rash but not this time....I am stuck not knowing what to do.

Do rashes make you type too much...LOL
