I too have HSP at he age of 35, I have had this disease for 4 years. I have been on azathiprine for over 12 months ans still get a re-ocurring rash probably every 2 - 4 weeks, which is unsightly. I start with a cholic pain in my abdomen and get really tired, then you can guarantee within 3 days the rash appears..
The consultant I see has no idea why this is happening, he is just interested in making sure this doesnt effect my in any other way, renal, heart etc... The hospital I am under are great and I would recommend them to anybody ( QE Birmingham , UK), they understand and listen to me when I have a bad flare up. Unfortunately, that is all they can do as HSP is rare and not alot is known about it!
Im am very frightened that this will progress further and effect my life. However, I will not let this beat me, positive thinking, a good diet and recognising the signs and dealing with it has helped me immensely. PMA ( positive mental attitude) is the way forward with this and unfortunately until the medical professional get a grip and find out more about this we are all going to have to help eachother on this blog.
Good Luck guys, chin up and look after yourselves..
Ps Eumovate helps with the itching
