   Hi, I was put on ramapril 6 months ago, 10mg daily. About 3 months ago i started getting strange joint pains all over in my neck, elbows, wrists, fingers, knees and feet with a very strange burning numbing sensation in my toes and fingers. i went to the doctors and they give me some blood tests and said my glucose level was border line at 6.5 fasting and said that the joint pains could be due to this. I then had a glucose tolerance test and it came back normal...and 3 months down the line i have just had a blood test for rheumatism but that has come back negative ..it's strange that with all these joint pains i dont have any swelling or redness round the joints. I stopped taking ramapril 5 days ago and my joint pains have nearly gone ....but try telling my doctor that. He does not know i have stopped taking them, but i have proved a point to myself....my blood pressure has been sitting around 135/85....i know that because i have bought a monitor, a good one...and now i am thinking why am i taking ramapril in the 1st place. I must admit i do get very nervous when sitting in the doctors maybe thats why he put me on them....could be white coat syndrome. Sorry this email is so long...cheers paul

   Like Paul I am suffering the same symptoms with the addition of a tickly cough, which has also been attricuted to ramapril, which I am told will last as long as I take ramapril, which I find all very depressing. I yesterday decided to stop taking the medication, and find alternative rememdies by way of the herbal route. I have purchased a wrist monitor, and intend to keep my own blood pressure under control. I'll keep you informed of my progress and let you know what works for me

   i have lost my taste. i have a salty taste also i think ramapril is the cause. i have read articles on the subject but it is very rare, would like to know if anyone has experenced this problem. thank you. Bill

   Have been on 10mg Ramapril daily for many months along with the usual other stuff for angina. From the outset, I have had fairly frequent spasms of pain in my left leg down the outside of the calf - so severe that I thought it was sciatica, or at least a trapped nerve - and permanent pins and needles down the leg and in the toes of the foot. A recent MRI scan shows insufficient disc bulge to be causing nerve pain, and the orthopaedic specialist thought it might be caused by my medication. I will shortly have a coronary by-pass and will endeavour to get off the ramapril and as much of the rest of the medication as possible.

   iv had the same symtoms as you ,but cold not work out why i was get this pain and tiyred felling .allways weak in the legs, ankle,just about all over.im off to see the doctor see u later

   I too get tickly cough and leg pains, I also suffer from a light headed feeling from time to time and my sex drive is zero. I feel consantly depressed and have no urge to do any thing but to sit around the house and stare into space. Perhaps other people out there gets the same side affects?.

   Ive just been put on 2.5 mg once a day I was quite shocked to find I had high blood presure as Ive always been preety ok though we do have a family history of heart problems which Is why I have a check at least once a year until now everythings always been ok

   I have to go back to the doctors in 2 weeks to see if the tablets are being effective or I need a bigger dose so far no side effects.I asked the doctor if there were any I should be aware of and he told me no so you can imagine my suprise when I looked here Lukily so far Ive had no adverse effects though Ive only been taking them a few days

   ijust like paul my husband was put on 10mg daily within a week my be two he started getting servere pain in his joint and mainly in his legs took him to hospital one weekend his legs got unbearable they thought it was a blood clott would listen to him he tried to tell them its only been since he went on the ramapril going to the doctors today he not sleeping hes in that much pain taking theese reports with us and going to demand to be taken off them thankyou for your report pm
