Hi, I have suffered the agonies of prickly heat for many years (I believe that the HRT that I take exacerbates the condition, but that is only my opinion). Since coming to live in Spain two and a half years ago, I have had found that because my daily sun-cream routine is now normal to me, that I have it much less now. I only ever got it where the sun constantly got it on the chest (wearing strappy tops etc), so now every morning after my shower and at least half an hour before going out, I put on my factor 30. I have found this helps prevent it. However, if i have been sweating a lot and it flares up, I take an antihistamine tablet, cover up completely (white cotton t-shirt up to the neck type) and stay out of the sun. I have also found that cooling down the skin, either with a gel pack that goes in the freezer or wet flannel helps. Keeping an Aloe Vera plant is good too as you can cut off a leaf (I dont think they mind as mine keeps growing!) and applying the sap from it is also very very soothing, although as mentioned in one of the replies I read earlier, it can stain ur clothes, so take care! Also for those of you who are trying to get a tan while on holiday it really is best for you (and the prevention of your prickly heat to go out early and sunbathe or later in the evening, you'll still get a tan but be more comfortable with it. Hope this helps, Sheila smile
