I had a heart attack which resulted in 2 stents being inserted. Since discharge the standard cocktail of medicines to reduce risk of future attacks, namely low dose aspirin (75mg), Clopidogrel (75mg), Ramipril ( 2.5mg), Bisoprolol (2.5mg) and Lipitor (80mg) have triggered almost continuous gout attacks. I have been given Colchicine and pain killers to help manage the attacks. In my view I should be looking at alternative medication to prevent attacks rather than try and manage them. The attacks are always in my left knee and mean for at least 3 days each week I cannot walk and am bed ridden until it subsides. I will not be able to go back to work while this persists and am getting quite stressed and depressed about it all. Has anyone experienced anything similar and maybe been prescribed alternative medication?

Ask your Doctor for Allopurinol which will clear the uric acid from your system but takes a few weeks to work.
Good luck
