Forums quick start guide

  1. Hi All,

    --QUICK START GUIDE--

We have created a quick start guide to new new forums, to help you adjust to the new layout.

You can view it here: http://www.slideshare.net/Patient-co-uk/guide-to-the-new-forums

    --EVOLVING THE FORUMS--

We want to evolve these forums and add new features to them based on your feedback, so that this site becomes the best community for sharing and discussing your experiences.

If you have an idea for a new development or improvement, click 'Feedback' in the top right hand corner of this site. There you can see the ideas people have already submitted, and add your own.

Each person gets 10 votes to vote on the ideas they would like to see. So if you like an idea, vote for it! The ones that become most popular as a result of voting, we consider in our schedule of development over the coming months.

We will keep listening, and we hope you can help us continue to develop the forums.

    Thanks

    Ben

  2. Why isn't there a help page?

Is it possible to close a discussion if the replies get off topic or unpleasant?

  3. No. If you have a problem with a discussion and or it's reply / ies click the 'Report' link at the bottom right and they'll see what the problem is smile

  4. Oh shame. Most forums let you close something when it's resolved.

    Cheers for the advice.

  5. Hi ellie163,

Just to add to what House has said, we are planning quite a few more changes to the site so I will either write a help file when these are complete or have an FAQ section within the site.

I will ask about closing discussions but the majority of threads on here are left open as the main point of the site is patients leaving their experiences so can still be relevant months or years after a final reply and quite often are reactivated when someone asks another question. For some of the regular topic discussions the nature of them is they quite often go off topic but the discussion carries on moving on to other areas.

We do have the general area which includes a chatroom and will be looking at the topics soon so it may be there will be more general discussion areas where it would be relevant to close a thread. We will also soon have a private messaging facility so if someone is being abusive etc then you will be able to contact me directly.

In the meantime if you do want to contact me either just leave a post but use the word moderator in the post as I scan all posts for this or use the Contact/Feedback link in the footer of the site.

I have seen the thread you reported but have left it as it seems to be quite a full debate and everyone has their opinions. If it does get too out of hand the only option I currently have is to delete the whole discussion and/or deactivate users which we obviously try and avoid.

Hope this helps and any questions just let me know.

    Alan (aka EmisModerator)

  6. Thanks for you reply. I actually was only concerned about one post.

A general thread would be a much more apt place for poetry.

  7. hiya peeps cheesygrin

i totally agree ellie, that post you mention was totally irrelevant, how can obscure poetry be on topic ?? rolleyes i think the person concerned knows who they are wink

    cheers,

    Ken cool ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  8. Ok, the poetry has now gone. There is a new area called chatroom where i moved that other thread to if anyone wants to start a literary corner. biggrin

  9. I can't believe you hated the poetry cry :D :[ I do beg to differ about it's actual relevance but I'll leave it at that, I'm prepared to take it like a man cheesygrin
