My 6 year old daughter is due to be fitted with grommets having been recently diagnosed with glue ear. We have the opportunity of having the procedure carried out 4 days before going on holiday, which includes a four hour flight. Does anyone know whether there are risks involved flying so soon after this type of surgery?

Hi, you need to check with your surgeon. Some say yes, some say no. Same as with swimming, some say no swiimming as at risk of infection (ie meningitis) and other s r fine about it! Contact surgeon's secretary and find out what he/she recommends then you can decide abotu havign it done before or after holiday! As a nurse and mum of son who had grommits, I personally woudl have surgery afterwards!
