First I would like to thank you for your web page, I found it to be very informative.
I am a 26 mother of 2, who was diagnosed with UC just over a year ago. I have found it to be rather a tough year, as this illness totally took me by suprise! I have since been taking a tablet called Pentasa daily, and have still been having the occasional flare up. I was also pregnant with my second child during this year, and found that to be a rather more difficult pregnency. At first I attempted to stop taking the tablets, and managed to breeze through the first 4.5 months, before becoming quite ill. My doctor immediately put me back on the tablets and increased my dose. I was also then given regular scans to monitor my babies growth. I continued to take them, for the rest of the pregnancy, but still experienced another flare up over my last 4 weeks. In the end as I was at my due date they decided to induce me. My baby was 8lb 5oz!!!! I was still sick for a few weeks afterwards, but touch wood, have been fine since(4months). I would just like anyone with UC who is thinking of starting a family to know that you may experience a few set backs, but all in all it's worth it, and once your hormones settle things seem to slide back to normal!
