fexible cystoscopy - female

  1. I had a cystoscopy with a flexible tube at [color=orange:882b482753]******* [/color:882b482753]Hospital this morning. I had been very anxious for the week or so since I learnt I was to undergo this procedure, so I was hardly in a state to relax. Also, I remembered grimly some very painful smear tests I'd suffered in the past.

However, to my surprise I found the procedure was completely painless; I didn't even realize the doctor had inserted the tube at first. The only sensation I had was one of slight cold - and I felt a slight movement when he swivelled the camera, though it wasn't in the least unpleasant. And it took only about three or four minutes. I was amazed.

Also, no burning sensation on urination afterwards.

This is my experience, anyway - I hope yours is as comfortable.

  2. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have today received my referral and date to have this procedure in early January. I am nervous but know that in the long run it is all for the best. Your post has given me hope that, for women at least, this shouldn't be too much of a distressing experience (to be honest its probably the embarrassment about the procedure rather than the pain that is the most nerve wracking!).
