female cystoscopy upset

  1. I had a cystoscopy done last week. I was given no sedation so was alert for procedure which also included male doctor using his hand to feel my bladder. I had no pain or anything afterwards but for the last couple of days I've been very upset as I was abused when I was young. Can't get procedure out of my head as it felt rough and very invasive. Anyone in similiar situation or can give help or advice. Thanks

  2. I am so sorry this happened to you. No woman deserves to be treated this way. I too have had bad experiences at the hands of gynecologists. As women, I think we're taught to not say anything, to not speak up for ourselves when we are handled roughly by these doctors. When we do dare to say anything, we are treated as whiners, complainers, babies. Above all, we are NEVER taken seriously. The only way things are going to change is by realizing that we MUST speak up. Not just for our own sakes, but also for the girls and women who come after us. We cannot keep allowing them to treat us this way and then expect them to miraculously change their ways. It must be brought to their attention that the way they are treating women is barbaric. We are not cattle; we are human beings. If necessary, keep changing doctors until you find one you're comfortable with. Whatever you do, don't keep going to this insensitive lout. And tell him why you're dropping him as your doctor. After all, nothing is going to change until we do.

  3. Thank you for replying. My results have come back clear so I will not have to see this doctor again. Whenever possible I always look for female doctors as I feel more comfortable. It is hard for women to explain how they feel as you say its easier to keep quiet which is totally wrong, it is no longer a man's world afterall. I feel a bit better today having spoken to a frind about it. Women do need to speak up, myself included and not have to be made feel as they are 'difficult patients'. Thanks again
