I am a 40 year old female. After going to the doctors numerous times, she told me that I have IBS, although I'm not convinced.
Let me explain the background. I have had mild stomach problems since having children (my youngest is eight), but things got really bad when came I back from a holiday In August 2010 and it felt like I had a urine infection as it was painful to pass water and I would have frequent bouts of having to wee urgently, which was a nightmare when I was out anywhere and a lot of the time I only just made it to the loo. The urgency thing is not as bad now, but it feels strange when I need the toilet and feels like something is pressing on my bladder.
Also I have bouts of constipation/diarreah (sp) , stomach pains, tiredness, bloated stomach, lack of energy, back pain, frequent passing wind, heartburn, headaches. I haven't lost my appetite, lost weight (if anything I've gained), I haven't been vomiting or had blood when going to the toilet.
I have had my stools checked for blood twice, been screened for cealiac (sp) disease, which came back negative. I have also had 2 ultrasound scans to check for Ovarian cysts etc and they didn't find anything. I got checked by the hematology department, in case I'd got a blood disorder, but couldn't find anything wrong with me. I have had numerous blood tests and the doctor said I'm not diabetic.
I also get lumps in my neck that seem to appear and then disappear at will. The doctor has said this is nothing to worry about.
Hence the doctor has concluded that I have IBS. I have to admit the doctors are not very good and seem to refer to the internet a lot in the consultations (although they tell you not to do this). She's recommended that I take Buscopan, but it doesn't seem to make that much difference.
I had a contraceptive inplant until April last year when I had it removed to see if that was the cause of my problems but it hasn't made much difference, other than my periods have returned and they are normal and regular.
I am taking Ramipril 6.25mg daily for high bp.
Sorry it's so long, but I wanted to give as much info as possible
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
