In October I will have my left hip replaced at Wrightington Hospital. Both my hips have been dislocated since birth, however I only have pain in the left side, which has increased dramatically in the past 18 months. I am aged 51 and have managed reasonably well until last year. My Consultant has warned me that the operation will be complex and recovery gradual over a 12 month period. I would be interested to hear from anyone else that has had experience of THR as a result of hip dislocation.

Hi
I had my left hip replaced in Feb this year, also a Wrightington, as a result of hip dysplasia. It was a shock to find i needed a THR at 39, but the pain was so bad due the osteoarthritis, I was glad to have it done in the end.It has been successful and I am back at work as a nurse.
I am due to see a different surgeon at Wrightington next week to discuss what to do with my other hip, which also has dysplasia, but only little OA.
Hope your surgery goes/went well. (not sure if you have already had it done now!!)
