Cholesterol readings - good, bad, ?

  1. The wife did a fasting blood test a few weeks ago and after some persuasion, the GP let her have some numbers. These were handed to her in a folded bit of paper with no explanation whatsoever so she is a little grumpy at the lack of customer service.

    Anyway, it says

    total cholesterol 5.9

    ratio cholesterol/HDL 3.5

    HDL 1.7

    Triglycerides 0.5mol/l (?)

If there's anyone out there who can reasonably interpret these, anything would be better than the GP, who I can only assume is not bothered.

    thanks

    Metty

  2. Hi Metty,
