Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

  1. I`m a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed a very active social life untill now...

It started a few years ago when chatting to people down the local when one of them asked me if i farted. I couldn`t smell anything and dismissed his comment. Over the last few years the comments got more frequent and I started to withdraw. Without rambling on its now got to the point that I rarley go out and when I do I`m very aprehensive and tend to hide in the background.

This condition is so embarrasing I cant mention it to anyone but has completly changed my personality

    Please help

  2. hi

I have had bad breath all my life, and people who have bad breath, know it is not nice, it can ruin your social life, and there is nothing worse than when you are talking to someone, and they keep putting their hand to their nose.

you can clean your teeth, floss, scrape your tongue, etc etc and twenty times a day, and your breath still stinks. scrape your tongue and wipe the residue from the scraper on the back of your hand. wait 10 seconds and smell it. not nice is it.

there is nothing you can buy in the high street that helps.

bad breath is a BACTERIAL IMBALANCE OF THE MOUTH. This imbalance can be caused by a health issue, cleaning issue, lifestyle issue, or usually a combination of all three.

basically you have more bad bacteria than good, in your mouth. and someone who has clean breath has more good than bad.

i have been using a product from a website i discovered. they sell many many mouth washes - and toothpastes. if you truly want to reduce the odour coming from your mouth, you need to have a strict regime of brushing your teeth in the morning, after lunch and before bed.

for example , after breakfast, i mix a small amount of liquid, from 2 different bottles together. these bottles contain sodium hypochlorite, and sodium hydroxide, citric acid and cetylpyridium chloride. combined, it is very strong, almost acid like, but it cleans your mouth. so with this mix, you would clean your tongue, us it as a mouth wash, floss with it, and brush your teeth with it. after i would use a gel on my tongue, then scrape it off, then i would clean my teeth with a toothpaste, then i would use a mixture to give my mouth the correct ph level, then a final mouth wash. lol. sounds a lot i know, but you would only need to do this much about twice a week, in the morning.

you need to avoid certain food types, especially during the day, for example protein or cheese as the bad bacteria in your mouth quickly breaks these foods down into smelly compounds. it is ok to eat these for dinner, but try and have just a carbohydrate lunch, and avoid coffee, and alcohol.

if you would like their website send me an email, as i dont want to advertise on this site. the website will give you lots of good information and offers you help and advice. their products are not cheap, but, they are the best, in my opinion. if you use them your breath will improve.

i will probably never check for replies on this site. but good luck and there is help out there, if you want it

  3. Hello there,

I too had a broblem with my breath smelling like Poo. It got to the point I wouldnt want to leave my house. I had jobs where they would think I was farting at my desk and I just would never do that!!! I had to find a job that would allow me to work from home and thank god I found a great career that allows me to just that. I have never had a cavity in my life. I have perfect oral hygene. I brush my teeth at least 3 times a day, Floss etc. I finally told her about my Problem when she noticed me holding my breath when I talk. My sister works in the dental field and I wish I would have talked to her sooner because she SAVED me. What is making the smell of poo is your nasel draneage that comes down the back of your throat. It contains more bacteria and it smells litterally like shit. You need to get a Neti Pot with sailine solution that contains baking soda because this takes the burn feeling that can happen with saline alone and it absorbs odor!! Simply Saline is what I use. It comes in a kit with the neti pot and packets of saline solution packets. I use 2 packets twice a day. In the morning and before bed. I do not have poopy breath anymore!!!!!! Now, you have to use warm water careful for it not to be too hot or too cold. If you do not drink your tap water, then you can not rinse your sinus with it. Let me know if this helps!!! I feel for anyone with this condition. No one wants to smell!! :-)

  4. hi I am facing the same problem. have anyone tried Therabreath Products. try their products. it works on my 18 year old son.

  5. hi LChriste, i have the same problem too. please where can i buy the same products you are using. i want to try as well. to tell you the truth i want to find a good job but cant even go for an interview as i will fill up the room with my poo smell. i got a job where we are not allowed to talk to each other but a very hard labour. but i took the job as i need the money too. please let me know where i can buy the same products. thank you. please if you dont mind giving me your phone number so i can give you a call please. thank

  6. I'm suffering too and desperately unhappy :-(

My dentist suggested post nasal drip so my GP has given me a nasal spray - not working so far

I've also provided a stool sample to see if I have HP in my stomach

Helicobacter Pylori so watch this space!

    Desperate for nice breath :-(

  7. Have you tried TetroBreath it's the only toothpaste and mouthwash that works for me. "Welcome10" is a code for a 10% discount when you sign up for their newsletter.

  8. Hi I had this problem for a year before I went to my GP. I was referred to an ENT clinic. After being put on High doses of omeprazole before testing negative for helicobacter, I have been given antibiotics, tested for allergies and numerous nasak sprays. Nothing worked an I've now been discharged with the surgeon saying he wouldn't want to operate. My CT was also negative and my sinuses were clear.I still don.t know if its a stomach or a problem related to post nasal drip. It comes and goes so I'm wondering if I have an allergy that was not tested for as they only check the common ones. Its not nice having your 8 and 12 year old kids telling you your breath stinks or asking if you have passed wind.

  9. I have had this problem for most of my life. It has prevented me from having a life. At school and university people would refuse to work with me and even tell me to sit elsewhere. People cover their mouths orturn away when I speak to them. One person even said I should stick a mop with bleach in my mouth. Never had a girlfriend either. I have good dental hygiene and the Dentist says no problem. Doctors say no issues. Have tried eliminating dairy, probiotics and even removing tonsil stones. No improvement.

The response from doctors has been abysmal. They are supposed to help but if its something they don't know about then they just give up. Managed to convince one to let me try Clarithromycin, Metronidazole and Lansoprazole which I am trying right now. My breath has momentarily stopped smelling and instead of feeling great I feel awful because of all the things I have missed out on.

Will try moxifloxacin if the smell returns which I suspect it will. Google reports that someones poo breath was caused by a hiatus hernia. Will ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist so they can perform an endoscopy. Other causes may be metabolic - Dimethylsulfidemia or Hypermethioninemia. Wikipedia has a long list of possible medical conditions that might cause this problem. I will work my way through them.

The next doctor that refuses to help me will find themselves reported to their regulatory body.
