I have had AS for 30+ years - I am unable to work, and contrary to the propaganda from the NHS, it does not get better with time.

I have hauled myself, screaming in pain, upstairs on all-fours before now.

I am currently suffering a 'flare-up' which is manifesting as pseudo-gout, and have DOUBLED my intake of Phenylbutazone (nsaid) to cope with the pain. Fortunately, I have a sensible & sympathetic Consultant who supported my Blue Badge app and my (ongoing) disabled status.

Do not depend on your GP - if a blood test confirms AS, ask to be referred to a Consultant - they can and will help - most gp's are totally out of their depth with this beast.

Most important - DO NOT BE FOBBED OFF - AS IS A SERIOUS AND ONGOING CONDITION !
