After 6 years in remission i'ts back !!

  1. On 29/11/10 I was taken into A&E with severe palpitations only to learn that my hyperthyroidism had returned with a vengance. Gr8

Im back on the carbimazole and even since my last illness I have stayed on my dearest propanalol to keep the irregular heart beats at bay.

Has anyone been in this situation? I was never called back in for bloods etc., and I didn't bother to go back as I felt well.

All the recent ailments add up now, such as losing my hair, red eyes (even though I like my red wine) lol , feeling hot, double vision etc., and I still never thought about my thyroid condition.

All the females in my family have under- active, is it hereditory?

I would love to hear from anyone in the same situation.

  2. Hi Pauline. Mine came back after forty years!!! Had my blood checked every year, and then all of a sudden it was back. I had symptoms that I thought was a recurrence, palpitations, weight loss, anxiety, but my bloods came back normal then in May this year they went through the roof. I've been on block and replace with Carbimazole and Thyroxine and Propranolol has helped a lot. I had radioactive iodine last Friday, so I hope that's worked.

Yes, it's hereditary. I have Graves. I don't know anyone else in the family that has that, but an aunt (mam's sister) is underactive.

I hope you feel better soon.

    Keep in touch,

    Marigold.
