I was so glad to find this web site with others posting their stories about this. We were told our 7 year old daughter has hsp last Friday and we are struggling through it. She told me her knee hurt Thursday afternoon and I didn't see anything unusual so I just thought maybe she twisted it. Later that night she was laying in bed saying her knee hurt really bad so I checked it again and it was swollen about twice the size of her other knee and she had all these red spots on her legs. I called her Dr. right away and he said it was probably a knee sprain which didn't explain the spots, but he said to bring her in the next day. She hurt so bad she couldn't even walk. By the time she went to the Dr. she still couldn't walk and she had the red spots all over her legs and butt. The red spots turn into purple bruises after a day or so. I was told she has hsp. I had never even heard of it! Neither has anyone else I have talked too. Her urine was checked and so far so good. She goes back Friday to be checked again, but it seems like everytime the bruising starts to go away she gets tons more red dots and it starts all over again. She had stomach pain yesterday and today her legs hurt so bad she couldn't even walk to the bathroom. Her dad and I have to carry her anywhere she needs to go. This for me is very scary and I was glad to read other peoples experiences about this. The worst part is being a parent and there just seems like theres nothing I can do. The doctor said it goes away on its own and he made it seem like no big deal. I think its a big deal when my 7 year old can't walk herself to the bathroom and it wearing pants everyday during our hot weather because she's so embarrased about her legs. Thank you all for sharing your stories. I will post again to let everyone who reads this know how she is doing. Any support I can get or give would be great too!
