Macmillan Cancer Support

A UK charity which helps to provide the expert care, and practical and emotional support that make a real difference for people living with cancer.

CancerHelp UK

CancerHelp UK is a free information service about cancer and cancer care for people with cancer and their families. It is brought to you by Cancer Research UK. They believe that information about cancer should be freely available to all and written in a way that people can easily understand. They also run a site called CancerCampaigns - a campaigning initiative. This site aims to engage their supporters, staff, scientists and the public in campaigning in partnership with the charity on issues related to cancer and cancer research. (For example, a campaign calling on the government to implement smoke free workplaces for all).

Cancer Support Scotland "Tak Tent"

Offers information and support for cancer patients, families, friends and health professionals. "Tak Tent" runs a network of support groups across Scotland, meeting monthly in the evening, including a group specifically for people aged 16-25.

Cancer Care Choices for Young People

If you're aged between 19 and 24 and have been diagnosed with cancer, you may have a choice about where to receive your care. This website aims to guide you through some of the decisions you're able to make.

A Registered UK charity which exists to match volunteer bone marrow donors with patients throughout the world, who are in need of life-saving bone marrow transplants.

Bereaved Partners Support Group

Funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, the Bereaved Partners Support Group (BPSG) is for people who have lost their partners to cancer.

Breast Cancer Care

British Acoustic Neuroma Association

A patient organized and administered information and mutual aid group, founded in 1993. Exists for mutual support, information exchange and sympathetic listening.

British Colostomy Association

Provides support, reassurance and practical information to anyone who is about to have a colostomy, or who already has a colostomy.

Cancer Black Care

Addresses the cultural and emotional needs of black people affected by cancer. Cancer Counselling Trust

Cancer Partners UK

CancerPartnersUK is an independent organisation offering a different approach to cancer care. They work with the NHS and other providers to create modern cancer centres where the latest technology in radiotherapy and chemotherapy is seamlessly delivered in a comfortable, welcoming environment.

A website for patients, healthcare professionals and research workers looking at all aspects of Cancer and its treatment.

CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North)

Cancer support charity for patients, their families and close friends. Based in Aberdeen, they cover all of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. They offer support, information and complementary therapies.

Colon Cancer Concern

National charity dedicated to bowel cancer patients, their families and friends, CCCs Infoline and fact sheets are a valuable source of information. CCC produces leaflets and question cards for every stage from the first visit to the GP to treatment for advanced colorectal cancer.

The Department of Health outlines policy and provides guidance documents concerning cancer.

Foundation for Children with Leukaemia

Leukaemia Research and Funding is the primary aim. Also provides aftercare resources and organises fund-raising events.

Information Sheet for People at General Population (LOW) Risk of a Familial Cancer

Information from the Northern Primary Care Genetics Website which is primarily aimed at those working in primary care, however, they offer a patient information leaflet in this area.

Institute of Cancer Research

Not a self help group but their web site provides links to many cancer support and information resources for patients and carers. Includes Everyman - action against male cancer - the Institute of Cancer Research's campaign to raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancer.

International Myeloma Foundation (UK)

The IMF (UK) website has been developed to provide immediate, 24/7 access to information about myeloma and related diseases to individuals affected by the condition and the people caring for them, either professionally or informally.

Kidney Cancer

Aims to provide UK kidney cancer patients and their carers with improved access to reliable information about kidney cancer and its treatment, and to establish a network of individuals and groups capable of offering mutual support.

Leukaemia Research Fund

Includes information on leukaemia, Hodgkins disease, lymphomas, myeloma etc.

London Prostate Cancer Centre

Their website provides information, advice and treatment from four of the UK's leading cancer specialists. Includes extensive information on causes, diagnosis, treatment options and latest research into the disease..

Lymphoedema Support Network

Lymphoedema is not a well documented condition. This group of Lymphoedema patients and medical advisors can offer support, help and information to those affected by lymphoedema due to cancer or other causes.

Orchid Cancer Appeal

PSA is a national association of self-help and support groups. It is managed by and for men with prostate cancer, their families and other interested groups. The site includes information on the disease and therapies.

PCaSO - Prostate Cancer Network

A prostate cancer support group. It is run by its members and the services offered are for men, their families and those affected by prostate cancer.

Prostate UK

Offers free brouchures on all prostate diseases (cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis), a DVD/Video on treatment options for early prostate cancer, a quarterly newsletter and other publications. Also funds research into all aspects of prostate disease and awards grants for the training of medical professionals.
